Holocaust Memorial

This parking lot was the location of one of Hitlers bunkers and where he spent the last of his days.  Her was married here and then committed suicide with his new bride shortly after as the Allies closed in on Berlin.

Berlin is the Slavic word for bog or swamp which is exactly what Berlin is built on.  These brightly colored pipes are used to suck out water from the ground to keep the buildings from sinking in.

This is a Memorial to the Nazi book burning that took place here in 1933.  The Memorial is an underground room with empty bookshelf’s in it.

I was woken up the other night at about 4am by a motorcyclist that collided with a car on our corner. I got out of bed and watched from the window as the police and then the ambulance showed up to help him out. He wasn’t moving much but I think he was ok.
